Daisy‘s Garden 2 lives on!

While researching DOS and Windows games, we regularly come across titles that we hadn’t even heard of before. One great way to discover them is by following YouTube channels such as DOS Storm, who has dug up old shareware CDs and showcased many of the games they contained. If you have some spare time, I can highly recommend checking out his channel.

I actually first became aware of this title through various posts on Reddit, where players still remember the game fondly and would like to experience it again today – perhaps even together with their own children.

While researching the game, I came across a download page created by the developer, Frank Burkart, which has unfortunately disappeared over the years. Back in 2009, he made this game, along with several of his other titles, available free of charge, including a license key.

Since that offer was no longer available, I contacted Mr. Burkart by email to ask whether the free license that had been offered back then was still valid. This is not always the case. Deluxe Ski Jump 2, for example, was once distributed with free license keys as well, but is now being sold commercially again.

For me, this is about more than simply looking at the legal side of things. It is important to handle existing material responsibly and to respect the wishes of the original developer. That philosophy is one of the principles DOSGAME.AT is built upon.

A few days later, Mr. Burkart kindly replied and granted DOSGAME permission to host Daisy’s Garden 2, including the free license key.

A Small Piece of PC Gaming History

Daisy’s Garden 2 comes from an era when independent developers often released their games as shareware or freeware, and many titles were only distributed in very small numbers. As old websites and download servers disappeared, many of these games vanished along with them.

Our Release

Our release contains the original version of the game as approved by the developer. Our goal was not to modify the game, but simply to preserve it and make it available once again.
