Microleague Baseball

MicroLeague Baseball is one of the early DOS sports games that treats baseball as a tactical screen game: line-ups, pitch selection, substitutions and score management matter more than frantic reflexes. Our Universal PC Booter starts the original PC booter edition directly from a hard drive. The original 160 KB IMG is loaded unchanged into memory and presented to the game as a virtual floppy disk, leaving the game file untouched. Version 1.2 expands the historical Team Disk collection to 37 selectable sets with 956 team records. It adds 1950s World Series teams, the 1982 Team Disk, and expanded Yankees plus Minnesota/Washington franchise histories. F4 now selects two Team Disks before play. During in-game team selection, Ctrl+Alt+1 inserts the first virtual Team Disk and Ctrl+Alt+2 inserts the second; press Enter when MicroLeague Baseball requests the disk so it reads the newly inserted selection. This makes it possible for teams from two different historical Team Disks to play each other. F1 opens a three-page How To Play quick reference covering the original game flow, offense and defense options, pitching, line-up and bullpen management, plus save-game and DOS commands. Compatibility Mode (F2) is enabled by default, while F3 adds speed normalization for fast computers and emulators. F5 removes an existing save game. Saved games remain in MLB1.SAV together with their virtual Team Disk state and can be resumed through “R - Re-start a saved game”. DOSBox Staging is recommended for best compatibility; real DOS, DOSBox and DOSBox-X are supported as well.
