DOS / 2026 / MicroLeague
Microleague Baseball
MicroLeague Baseball is one of those early PC sports games whose appeal comes from bringing baseball to the screen in a very direct way. Our release is aimed at anyone who wants to start this original booter version conveniently today, without being limited by the disk and hardware assumptions of its era. For owners of the original game files, it makes the classic release accessible again in a modern DOS environment while preserving the original boot flow. For our release, we load the original 160 KB IMG into memory and present it to the game as a virtual floppy disk. The image itself stays unchanged, and we add practical helpers such as a quick reference for the controls, a compatibility mode for modern VGA hardware and DOS emulators, and speed normalization for faster systems. We also emulate the separate Team Disk save system, so saves are written to MLB1.SAV and can be restored without altering the original game files. The package also includes a clean way back to DOS via a key combination, and the loader stores its settings in its own configuration file. That keeps our release close to the original while making it much easier to use day to day.
