The original designers released a reissue titled “California Gold Rush!” in 1998.
Gold Rush! is one of Sierra’s best-known adventure classics, remembered for its historical setting and its blend of exploration, puzzle solving, and careful progression. With older DOS releases, however, protection prompts and launch hurdles can make it harder than necessary to revisit the game, even though the experience itself still holds up well. Our release is aimed at owners of the original game or the original game files who want a straightforward way to launch this classic version.
With our loader, we bypass the protection or copy-protection check used by the supported original release and also make it possible to start with important key items already available. The original files are not modified permanently; we simply provide the required launch helper alongside them. That keeps Gold Rush! easy to start from your own installation while avoiding the manual protection step at launch.
