Did you know?
One verified detail of the day about the game and its history.
Supported sound hardware includes AdLib, Game Blaster, Roland MT-32, and Sound Blaster.
Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra is one of Sierra’s classic adventure releases, combining exploration, dialogue and detective work with the familiar SCI structure. Our release keeps the original game front and center: it is meant for owners of the game, or of the installed original files, who want to launch this classic under DOS without getting stuck at the manual protection prompt.
Our Legacy Protection Fix intervenes only at runtime and leaves the original game data unchanged. The loader opens RESOURCE.000, processes the protection routine in memory and makes sure all three checks continue along the normal game path, with any answer accepted as valid. It only creates a temporary 18.SCR patch resource, which is removed again after exit. We support the documented installed floppy versions, including English v1.0 and v1.1 as well as the verified German, French and Spanish variants. To start the game, simply place LOAD.COM in the directory of the installed full version; RESOURCE.000 and RESOURCE.MAP remain untouched.
DOS Cracks & Copy Protection
In period DOS collections, technical copy-protection fixes were often called “cracks”. DOSGAME.AT documents this historical context as part of preservation and compatibility work.
