Leisure Suit Larry 2 is one of Sierra’s better-known adventure classics, and its appeal still comes from the mix of puzzles, humor, and unmistakable DOS-era atmosphere. With older original releases, however, protection checks can make the start more cumbersome than it needs to be, so our release focuses on removing that first obstacle and keeping the entry into the game straightforward. For players who own the original game or the original files, it provides a practical way to get back to the adventure on real DOS or in DOSBox.

Our loader bypasses the copy-protection or protection check of the supported original version, so the game can launch without that early roadblock. We also include a convenient MT-32 and AdLib sound switch where available, letting us adapt the audio setup to the hardware or emulation in use. To install, place LOAD.COM in the game directory and start the game through it; our loader is built around the supported original v1.002.000 release and targets DOSBox rather than ScummVM.

Sierra in the early nineties had a talent for mild cruelty, and Leisure Suit Larry 2 sits right in that sweet spot. It is a parser-era adventure with lots of text, lots of timing, and jokes that still land with a dry grin. Anyone who knows the series will recognize the habit of throwing awkward puzzles at you and expecting patience in return. That mix is exactly why the game remains interesting: cheeky in tone, old-school in structure, and very much stamped with Sierra’s confidence in making the player work for the punchline.

The DOSGAME.AT loader removes the copy-protection check, which means the game gets out of its own way before the adventure even properly begins. On top of that, the MT-32/AdLib switch makes the launch much friendlier on real DOS machines and in DOSBox, without rewriting the game’s identity. For owners of the original release, that is a neat way to return to Larry 2 in a form that behaves better while staying true to the DOS version. The result is less friction at the start and more room for what matters: Sierra’s writing, its puzzle logic, and that very specific early-90s adventure rhythm.
