Tangled Tales
Did you know?
One verified detail of the day about the game and its history.
The US box for the DOS version includes multiple disks; the scans document a Boot Disk plus Adventure Disk 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3.
Tangled Tales: The Misadventures of a Wizard’s Apprentice is a classic DOS role-playing game from the Origin sphere, combining exploration, party management, and the deliberate pace that defined many early PC RPGs. For our release, we focused on making the original version easier to use today: the loader starts the game directly from DOS and supports the protected floppy edition with a runtime workaround for the original protection checks, without permanently altering the executable.
Our release also includes an integrated save game editor for the original SAVEDATA files. With it, we can adjust character values, resources, equipment, inventory, and party composition directly from the save file. The editor works with the existing game data and provides a practical way to correct or manage saves. This download is intended for owners of the original game or the original game files; we provide the loader and tools, not the game itself.
DOS Cracks & Copy Protection
In period DOS collections, technical copy-protection fixes were often called “cracks”. DOSGAME.AT documents this historical context as part of preservation and compatibility work.
