Loom remains one of the defining adventures from the LucasArts circle, remembered for its unusual mix of story, atmosphere, and interface. The early DOS releases also carry the familiar protection check that can get in the way when you want to play on real hardware or in a DOS environment. Our release is aimed at owners of the original game and original game files who want a clean way to start it without that hurdle.

Loom is one of those LucasArts adventures that announces its own identity immediately: not inventory gymnastics for the sake of it, but a fairy-tale world where music becomes the interface. The distaff-and-tunes idea was strikingly bold in 1990, and that’s a big reason the game still sticks in the memory. It also carries that early LucasArts confidence in presentation and pacing, with humour tucked into the edges instead of shoved into every scene. If you know the old DOS version, you probably also remember the awkward copy-protection prompt before the real adventure even gets going.

Our Legacy Protection Fix deals with exactly that and makes the original launch feel direct again, without tampering with the game itself.
