About the game

Simon the Sorcerer 2 is one of the well-known fantasy graphic adventures of the DOS era, built around classic point-and-click puzzles, plenty of dialogue, and the series’ familiar sense of humor. Our release is aimed at owners of the original game files and at anyone who wants to run the floppy version cleanly again on real DOS or in DOSBox without getting stuck at the old protection check.

We provide a loader that bypasses the copy-protection or protection check of the supported original version and detects the documented language releases. For the German edition, we have also fixed the interpreter crash in the harbor dialogue. The result is a lean legacy protection fix that makes the floppy release practical to play again while keeping the original files as untouched as possible.

Simon the Sorcerer 2 wastes no time telling you what sort of adventure this is: a cheeky fantasy follow-up that would rather juggle fairy-tale clichés than pose as noble heroics. Adventure Soft leans into point-and-click logic, wordplay, and puzzles that first make you smile and then make you check the inventory a second and third time. As a 1995 sequel on DOS and other platforms, it’s usually remembered for exactly that blend of comedy and traditional adventure design. The German release also had its own little interpreter hiccup in the harbor dialogue, which feels oddly on-brand for a genre that often runs on charming chaos. Anyone who knows the original floppy version probably remembers the protection prompt as clearly as the opening scene. That’s where this release earns its keep: the loader cuts the protection from the boot path and makes the classic floppy edition behave much more cleanly on real DOS machines or in DOSBox.

For owners of the original game, that means the old release stays intact while the friction around it drops away. The fixed German harbor crash is a quiet but welcome touch, because a good adventure should lose you in a joke, not in a stray interpreter fault. Nothing here tries to rewrite Simon; it simply makes the original edition easier to reach, easier to archive, and easier to revisit on modern setups. That suits the game nicely, since its best moments were always about timing and attitude rather than brute force.
