Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders is one of LucasArts’ best-known adventure classics, mixing science fiction, humor, and the spirit of the early parser/point-and-click era in a distinctive way. Our release is aimed at players who own the original floppy version or the supported original files and want a straightforward way to start the game today without getting stuck on the old protection check.
Our Legacy Protection Fix bypasses the copy-protection or protection check of the supported original version and detects the documented floppy releases in English, German, and French. In practice, that means we launch the matching edition directly and let you disable the code prompt with F1, so any required code can still be entered when needed. Because the original EXE cannot be loaded directly through our system due to EXEPACK, our loader automatically unpacks the file on first launch and prepares a startable version in the background. That keeps the original files intact while making the route into the game much smoother.
