The Secret of Monkey Island VGA/EGA
Did you know?
One verified detail of the day about the game and its history.
Ron Gilbert led the project, with Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman contributing to design and dialogue.
The Secret of Monkey Island is one of LucasArts’ defining SCUMM adventures: point-and-click exploration, sharp dialogue, and the unmistakable opening chapter of Guybrush Threepwood’s pirate story. Our release is aimed at the original VGA and EGA floppy versions and removes the protection prompt that normally interrupts the start of the game. That makes it much easier to launch the classic disk release again on real DOS or in DOSBox, without having to go through the old copy-protection quiz first.
Our Legacy Protection Fix supports documented original versions and automatically identifies the matching files. In practical terms, we bypass the protection check of the supported edition while leaving the game itself intact, so owners of the original files get a straightforward way to run their installation again. It is a clean, no-fuss start path for anyone who wants to keep using the classic floppy release.
