Vision - The 5th Dimension Utopia is one of those early DOS games that shipped with its own protection mechanism, and today it often fails at that hurdle before the game even gets going. Our release is aimed at owners of the original game and at anyone who wants to make their own files usable again in a modern DOS setup. We keep the game itself out of the package and focus on making the original release start cleanly from your local copy.

Our Legacy Protection Fix addresses that exact problem: the loader patches ROCKDATA.PC locally, launches the game through VISION.BAT, and restores the file automatically after you exit. With the protection check disabled, you can bypass the old question at startup and choose any answer you like. The only requirement is that the supported original file is present and not write-protected.

Vision: The 5th Dimension Utopia sits in that peculiar early-DOS corner where a promotional release still tries to behave like a proper adventure instead of a branded afterthought. Contemporary databases and later write-ups place it on DOS in 1992, with Ad Games as developer and Rainbow Arts in the publishing orbit, originally tied to LBS as a marketing title. The setup is the interesting part: futuristic city fiction, point-and-click framing, and just enough corporate seriousness to make the premise feel stranger than it should. Early DOS protection schemes could be unforgiving, though, and today they often block the game before the fun part even has a chance to begin. What remains appealing is the odd blend of commissioned work, genre ambition, and a presentation that refuses to behave like ordinary software. That makes it worth preserving in a form that respects the original release, especially for people using their own copy.
